Preparing for Your Pre-K Christmas Party
Just like with any class party, you’ll have a little prep work to get done before all of the fun can begin.
Plan your Pre-K Christmas Party for first thing in the morning or after they come back from their activity class so you aren’t feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Decide on 4 distinct areas you will use for each station and get to work!
…But Megan, what if I can’t prep while my kids are out of the room? No worries, just gather them on the carpet and play a Christmas read-aloud while you do your party prep!

Time to Party!
After the prep is complete, it’s time to party!!
Divide students into groups so that they can easily rotate through these four festive stations. Set a timer for 10 minutes at each station, and let the fun begin!
Snowball Toss
At the snowball toss station, students will practice gross motor skills and turn-taking as they toss snowballs from different distances into a box, laundry hamper, or bucket*.
Grab these fake snowballs or make your own using crumpled white paper or rolled-up socks for easy fun.
*For added effect, decorate your container to look like a snowman!
Candy Cane Fishing
Next up, little ones go fishing for candy canes!
How To:
- Make fishing poles out of sticks, string, and candy canes
- Plant more candy canes in a plastic bin of rice
- Little ones try to hook candy canes together
This will be the perfect amount of challenge and fun for your kids! It’s a little tricky catching candy canes at first, but they will get the hang of it quickly.
Gingerbread Man Tasting
It’s a party, so snacks are a must!
At this station, little ones taste-test gingerbread men.
Create a poll at this station for students to record whether or not they liked the cookie. Divide a piece of poster paper into two columns, and have students put a tally in the appropriate column when they’re finished with the holiday treat.
To keep it simple for your little learners, use a smiley face to indicate “I liked it!” and a yucky or frowny face to indicate “I didn’t like it”.
Magnet Tree STEM Activity*
Build STEM confidence and skills with your Pre-K students at the final station by building and decorating Christmas trees using magnetic tiles!
What You Need:
- Magnetic tiles
- Jingle bells
- Magnets
- Star stickers
Add magnets to star stickers so students can put a star at the top of their tree for the perfect finishing touch!
*This activity came from my friend Angie at Glitter and Glue and Pre-K Too, and it does not disappoint!
