Lucky Charms Name Activity for St. Patrick's Day in Pre-K

Practice building names with Lucky Charms cereal! 

Grab strips of green paper to keep it festive for St. Patrick’s Day and write each child’s name on the page. Little ones will increase fine motor skills while gluing and picking up pieces of cereal one at a time. 

If your little ones aren’t ready to squeeze the glue (or it’s just too messy for your liking), pre-squeeze a little  into small condiment cups then let little hands use q-tips to trace the letters of their names in glue before placing the pieces of cereal on top. 

It’s a super fun activity in the classroom, but also super fun at home too!

Pre-K Pot of Gold Chain Writing Craft

Use this craft as a replacement for writing for the day. Ask students what they would buy if they found a pot of gold. Their answers are bound to be adorable!

This activity is perfect for differentiation! Prep strips or paper to make chains or themed shapes from the die-cutter for easy options. Leave a little more prep work and allow your preschoolers to practice scissor skills by cutting out pieces or strips on their own.. OR create DIY rainbow handprints from each child to make a sweet keepsake to send home.

Fizzy Shamrocks

Pre-K Fizzy Shamrock Sensory Bin

Make fizzy shamrocks using baking soda and vinegar for a fun and interactive Pre-K science sensory bin activity! 

How To:

1. Mix baking soda and water to create a thick paste

2. Squirt in food coloring 

3. Fill shamrock mold with baking soda mixture and freeze

4. Add vinegar to a squeeze bottle (or use droppers, scoopers, or pour straight from the bottle)

5. Put frozen shamrocks into a deep tray and PLAY!

Supplies:

  • Baking soda, water, food dye
  • Vinegar and pouring/squeezing tools
  • Shamrock mold 
  • Deep tray 

Extra options:

1. Add sequins or glitter to the tray for some Leprechaun sparkle 

2. Add dish soap to the tray to make the bubbles more foamy

Old Lady Clover Craft

This freebie includes capital letters, lowercase letters, and beginning sounds. It also comes both in color and black & white.

Pre-K St. Patrick's Day Pot of Gold writing mat

Little ones will practice writing letters with this Pot of Gold Writing Mat over and over again!

How To:

  1. Cut out and laminate the pot of gold or slip into a plastic sleeve protector. 
  2. Use magnet letters, letter tiles, letter coins, or any letter manipulative to place inside the gold on the mat. 
  3. Then use a dry erase marker to write the letters on the dotted line.

Practice with capital letters or lowercase letters, and target any leveled learner by using the specific letters needed for each student.
